Stress Buster Techniques for DBL Teachers
Don Bosco School Liluah held its Annual Teachers; Orientation programme on 29 July, 2017. The resource person was Fr James Chacko, the Rector of Salesian College, Sonada.
Rev. Chacko emphasized the importance of introspection and professional approach in teaching so that each teacher can become an educator which would have a positive influence on the students. The presentation revolved around the role of teachers in the character formation of the students in the modern times. He also proposed the need to help the younger generation realize the divine in them. Through the video presentations and his questionnaires, he reiterated various concrete ways to become effective teachers. One can move towards this goal only if learning is centered on the child.
The second part of the session dealt with stress management and the various stress buster techniques. What made the session very enlivening and meaningful was the fact that Father Chacko interspersed his talk with jokes and real life experiences. Many of his techniques seemed easy to follow in order to reduce the stress level one encounters during the day. He was very vocal in stressing that life should not be fixated, hence there is the great need to change one’s perception which in turn will change attitude towards life.
The session ended with a soul touching hymn and words of gratitude from Fr Sunit Kiro, the principal. It was a short and sweet four-hour session.
