Two More in the Salesian Garden of Kolkata
Cl. Millianus Kujur and Cl. Nanku Nicholas Besra made their perpetual profession at Don Bosco Shrine, Siliguri on July 02, 2017. Rev. Fr Nirmol Gomes, the Salesian Provincial of Kolkata received the vows in the presence seventeen concelebrants and a sizable number of faithful.
The ceremony began at 10.00 a.m. with a brief presentation of the life and formation of the candidates by Fr Sanju Kachhap. It was followed by a solemn procession by the candidates together with the concelebrants as the assembly sang the entrance hymn. After the Liturgy of the Word, Rev. Fr Samuel Mondol, the novice master presented the candidates by calling their names to which they responded saying, “present.” It was followed by an inspiring homily in which the Provincial explained the importance of religious vows and the obligation it entails on the individual. After stipulated examination of the candidates, the congregation knelt down and invoked the assistance of the saints. The litany of the saints was sung melodiously by Fr Jose Velloorputhenpura. Frs Cyriac Manianchira and Sanjay Kujur stood as witnesses as the candidates pronounced their vows. The angelic voices of the 19 pre-novices under the able leadership of the their socius Fr Jai Masih and Cl Bernand Murmu made the liturgy more meaningful. The Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians added colour to the celebration by their beautiful decoration of the altar.
At the close of the liturgical celebration the candidates expressed their gratitude to their parents and to Fr Davis Valiyan and the community of Don Bosco School, to Fr Mathew Pulingathil and the Salesian College community, and to Fr Samuel Mondol and the novices for the collaboration they extended for the celebration. The celebration came to a conclusion with a short felicitation programme and the fellowship meal at the Don Bosco School auditorium.
